Bobby Shmurda’s parole hearing is set for the week of Aug. 18, his mother has confirmed to The Shade Room. The news arrives after several reports speculated that the Brooklyn rapper’s hearing was today (Aug. 4), which is also his 26th birthday.

“The parole hearing is scheduled for August 18th. We [are] very confident that things will go well and as always we know God will see us through— he always does,” Shmurda’s mom Leslie Pollard told the outlet.

Shortly before his mother’s confirmation, Complex also reported that a Department of Corrections and Community Supervision official had told them Shmurda’s hearing is set for the week of Aug. 17.

“Mr. Pollard is currently scheduled to appear before the Board of Parole the week of August 17, 2020. The Board of Parole has two weeks from the date of the interview with the incarcerated individual to render a decision,” a statement from the official read.

The New York State Dept. of Corrections and Community Supervision website also lists Shmurda’s parole hearing as scheduled for August of this year, but does not provide a date.

According to the online records, Shmurda’s earliest release date is not until Dec. 11. However, there is a possibility he could be released earlier after completing his hearing. After the hearing, it will be up to the New York State Board of Parole to allow or deny Shmurda’s early release.

If his release is denied, Shmurda could remain in prison until next December at the latest. In 2016, the rapper pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession following a series of arrests in 2014. Shmurda was sentenced to seven years in prison — but credited two years served — leaving five years for his sentence, followed by five years on probation.

Besides updating The Shade Room on his case, Pollard also wished her son a happy birthday on Instagram.

“I am screaming Happy Birthday to my youngest Chewy Chew,” she wrote. “This guy is overloaded with everything, he has so much Personality and Talent. My boy is Caring, Sharing, Sweet, Loving, Loyal Energetic, Empathetic and Brave he is such a unique person.”

“I am asking God to continue showering you with blessings my boy and I want you to understand that God has his way and he wouldn’t bring you this far to let you down,” she continued. “I wish you Longevity, Great Health, Wealth and Prosperity and may all you life’s desires be fulfilled.”
