Bobby Shmurda is set to be released from his seven-year prison sentence in 2020. Quavo offered new insight into the incarcerated rapper’s release and even teased a forthcoming collaboration with Bobby and Migos.
“Jus Talked Bobby Shmurda Lil Bro In Great Spirits Bout To Touch Turf Soon!!!” Quavo tweeted on Thursday (Dec. 26). “SHMIGO ALERT 2020!!!”
Migos and Bobby had previously been in the works on a collaborated mixtape back in 2015, a project that may well see the light of day upon his release. Before Bobby went to prison, he and the trio did release singles, “Shmoney Never Stop,” “Computers (Freestyle)” and “What You Talmbout” featuring Rich The Kid.
Bobby pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession back in 2016. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with credit for two years served, bringing his time behind bars to five years, followed by five years of probation.
The “Hot N*gga” star has been praised for his non-snitching ways, as he opted to endure a harsher seven-year sentence rather than turn on his friend and collaborator, Rowdy Rebel, for a decreased sentence.
“They offered me five and offered Rowdy 12,” Bobby previously Complex in 2016. “They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs.”
Boosie Badazz previously saluted Bobby’s loyalty on Instagram.
“SOLID AS A ROCK,” he wrote on Nov. 24. “It’s a shame how the world don’t glorify the REAL ONES SMH #freesmurda rats get mo love then the stand up guys, FAKE ASS INDUSTRY! THEY WANT ALL THE REAL ONES OUT THE GAME. THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE THE REAL SMH Maybe its time for the real to EXTORT THE FAKE! WHO DOWN TO TAKE THESE N*GGAS SH*T WHO PU*SY?”
Bobby’s next parole hearing is scheduled for August 2020 and his conditional release date is scheduled for Dec. 11, 2020.
