A couple of months ago, Gunna revealed that he was close to releasing his new album, titled Wunna. In addition, he kicked off the project’s campaign with the single — and visual for — “Skybox.” Now, he blesses the world with the album’s title track, which is produced by Turbo and sees Gunna delivering bars about his movie star lifestyle:
“Pop it, I been sippin’ acorn, rich n***a on A1AP, lockin’ that Akon/
Baby butter, pecan, bringin’ that, I want a refund, breakin’ her back ‘til I see the sun/
I f***ed the b***h on the jet, Cuban baguette on her neck, she only call me for sex/
Speed in that ‘Vette, I still got my foot on they neck…/”
Wunna will follow last year’s Drip Or Drown 2, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 thanks to 90,000 album equivalent units sold. The project saw 16 tracks from the Atlanta star, alongside fellow peers like Young Thug, Lil Baby, and Playboi Carti. Last week, Gunna announced the album release date for Wunna, along with a short promo clip to match:
“Wunna Album 5/22/2020 Me My team … got sum special to show y’all the creation !”
In a past interview with Hypebeast, Gunna spoke on his gradual rise to success, as well as the importance of Atlanta’s rich culture:
“I have to give it to my hometown of Atlanta. That’s where my journey started off, the Southside of Atlanta to be exact. I was rapping from an early age on, and from there, I elevated my style gradually. Growing up there was a lot of fun. I love being from Atlanta, I love having been raised in Atlanta. The food is great there, and so is the shopping. Lenox Square and Saks Fifth Avenue are cool spots to shop. Atlanta is also somewhat the home of the strip clubs, such as Magic City.”
Press play on the official visual for “Wunna” below, which sees the rapper living it up in Jamaica. The album arrives this Friday.
