In the past, Lil Baby and Gunna have collaborated quite a few times. In a new interview with 16Bars, which was posted yesterday (July 15), Lil Baby reveals that Gunna used to pen a few songs for him.

During the conversation, Lil Baby explains that he used to pay $100 to Gunna to write songs for him. He did this as a way to help develop his skills as a rapper.

“[Gunna] was already rapping so I kicked it with him and started f–king with him,” Lil Baby began. Then I started rapping, and he actually started to helping me rap. I done paid Gunna to write my songs. I never put the songs out but like when I first started rapping I used to pay him like $100 like ‘I’ma give you a $100 write something for me so I can try to learn to go in and record it.’ I ain’t never recorded the songs and put them out but that’s how I used to practice and try to get it right because I just started rapping out of nowhere.”

Lil Baby explains that he never recorded any of the songs that Gunna wrote for him. Back in 2018, the rap duo released their joint project, Drip Harder.

Back in April, Revolt TV premiered Lil Baby’s documentary, Lil Baby: Preacherman. The film depicted the ATL’s spitter’s upbringing and his journey to success. Quality Control CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas also made a guest appearance in the doc.

“He just gives you all aspects of the game. I think that’s why people appreciate his music,” Thomas said about Lil Baby, who’s signed to his label. “To be so young and just giving it to you the way he giving it to you… I don’t give a f–k about a n—a being talented because there’s a million talented artists out here…”
