Bobby Shmurda is officially back. Since his release from prison back in February, the world has been patiently waiting for a new single from the Brooklyn emcee. Close collaborator Rowdy Rebel has been keeping the streets fed in the meantime — it’s also impossible not to be happy for Bobby has he continues to reconnect with his peers and live his life. He even brought his beaming personality to REVOLT’s “The Crew League” in support of Rebel’s tournament run with his Shhh Gang squad. Then, this past weekend, those who attended or streamed this year’s Rolling Loud Festival got to see Bobby premiere a new song, further raising hopes that a new music drop was imminent.
This week, Bobby finally returns to wax — by jumping on a remix of Latin trap stars Eladio Carrión and J Balvin’s hit single “Tata,” with also adds in a verse from Reggaeton legend Daddy Yankee. He doesn’t disappoint either, making quick work of Misael Relative, Andre The Giant, and Hide Miyabi drill production with bars about his current lifestyle:
“Just came home off a lock-up, grr, anything when I pop up, blowin’ that nino, throw that thing up, roll everything I see up, smokin’ on Easter, really don’t need her, after I fuck her, you can keep her, baby, I’m steady in this breach up, Baby, I rack them, niner…”
The original version of “Tata” is taken from Carrión’s January drop Monarca, which saw 14 cuts with contributions from Lunay, Yandel, Corina Smith, Noriel, Natanael Cano, and more. The project landed the Kansas-to-Puerto Rico talent on the top ten of Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Albums chart (no. 8) thanks to well over seven million streams generated following its first week of release.
