Bobby Shmurda is back! Well, sort of…

Although the Brooklyn-bred rapper was released from prison in February after serving a six-year bid, he hasn’t dropped any new songs yet. His parole terms were recently unveiled and while they are extremely restrictive, Shmurda is still allowed to pursue his craft and release music. But he hasn’t. He’s been to the NBA All-Star Game in Atlanta, chatting with Meek Mill in clubs, and he even flew on a private jet with Quavo — all while keeping his mask on snuggly to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Its been nearly six years since Bobby blessed the mic. Thankfully, fans anticipating something new from the “Hot Nigga” rapper can be excited since Bobby, born Ackquille Pollard, took to Instagram early Saturday (April 3) morning to announce he’s “dropping something this month.” “Studio nite,” Bobby wrote on his IG story, draped in a pink sweatsuit. “Watch ya head tops.”

An earlier story shows a diamond embezzled Shmurda Shmigo Gang chain, and the question: “Who ready for this ShmigoGang music to drop?” It’s unclear whether the posts are related and if the new music Bobby says he will release features the Migos and Rowdy Rebel. Bobby could also have a collaboration with Lil Durk tucked away. DJ Akademiks recently shared a video of Durk spending time with Rowdy and Bobby. And in March, the 26-year-old platinum selling rapper spent time with Mike WiLL Made-it and Zaytoven, so it’s possible he’s recorded with them, as well.

Many believe the reason why Shmurda has yet to release new music is because he is currently feuding with Epic Records, the label that signed him back in 2014. Bobby is still listed on Epic’s website as one of their artists, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

In 2016, Shmurda told REVOLT if he is still signed to Epic his relationship with the label “is strictly business nothing more, nothing less.” “I signed a contract, so I do have things I got to do for them. But besides that, it’s strictly business. So if they do decide to drop me, I’ll be independent and I’ll stay independent. But besides that, I still have a contract with them.”
