Another rapper is gone too soon.
According to a Monday (Aug. 9) report from the Hartford Courant, 17-year-old Juan Bautista Garcia, otherwise known as rapper YNT Juan, was found dead in a parked car on Sunday. The car was parked on Martin Street, a place the report says Juan lived at.
Juan was a rapper who built a solid following before his death. On Instagram, the platform for which he posted his new “Power (Remix)” hours before he was shot, he had over 25,000 followers. His last several songs on his SoundCloud amassed thousands of plays, with each tune eventually outpacing the last in popularity.
In the comments section for a snippet of his “Power (Remix)” video, Juan’s friends left touching words remembering the late rapper.
“Love you bro all you did was show respect to the upcoming because you never got the chance to shine like others you one of a kind and no one neva gonna have the heart and passion like you bro,” reads one comment.
Speaking to the Connecticut publication, Juan’s friend Janine reflected on the loss of the teenage rapper.
“He was only 17 years old,” she said. “He never went live on his Instagram to talk about drama, he only went on there to support his friends or promote his music. [He] didn’t even get to graduate school yet.”
The Hartford Police Major Crime and Crime Scene divisions are investigating the killing, which marked the city’s 25th homicide this year.
Unfortunately, the death of Juan is the latest case of a rapper dying long before they were supposed to. Last month, California rapper Indian Red Boy was shot and killed while he was on Instagram Live. Two months before that, Milwaukee rapper Fatboi Gwalla Gwalla was found dead in a burning car. Last November, both King Von and Texas rapper MO3 were shot and killed. REVOLT sends condolences to Juan’s family.
