A Drake and Rick Ross collab album is allegedly on the way. The rappers are said to be in the process of recording a joint project, per ex-NFL star Chad Johnson. On Friday (March 5), as fans raved about the rappers’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” the athlete dropped the news while responding to a question from Rap Caviar’s Twitter account.
“Drake and Ross been cooking up for a decade,” read Rap Caviar’s tweet. “What’s their best collab?”
The question was met with names of various Drake and Ross singles, including “Aston Martin Music” and “Money in the Grave” to name a few. Johnson then chimed in on the conversation, but his response seemed to be hinting at a forthcoming project between the Toronto native and the “Hustlin’” star.
“The joint album they’re doing together with…all projects they’ve done to date,” the former football player tweeted alongside a closed lip emoji.
Drake and Ross added to their history of collaborations on Friday (March 5) with the release of their “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” one of three songs on Drake’s Scary Hours 2 EP. Their collaboration seemed to be the standout track, according to social media users who revisited their past work together and hoped for future collaborations.
“Fuck it, I want a Drake Rozay tape,” tweeted journalist Elliott Wilson. “CLB (Certified Lover Boy) me in Sept. We’ll wait. Ha!”
Fans have been patiently waiting for Drake to drop his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, which was originally scheduled to come out last summer. As he recovered from knee surgery, the intended release date was pushed back a few times, but according to a recent report, the “God’s Plan” emcee is looking to give fans some new music in April.
“Drake told me that it’s gonna be dropping before April,” said DJ Akademiks. “So, he’s not waiting until summer to drop his shit… April or before.”
“He spent so much time on this project,” continued Akademiks. “He’s not trying to put out a surprise project. He’s gonna let people know at least a week before.”
Until then, Drake fans can listen to the Scary Hours 2 three-pack, which includes songs “What’s Next?” and “Wants and Needs” featuring Lil Baby.
