On Sunday (Dec. 6), Bow Wow joined Clubhouse and received praise from fans after sharing many stories from his career. Among the many anecdotes, he speculated about suitable opponents to face him in a hypothetical Verzuz battle and landed on former rival Soulja Boy.
“Bow Wow says a #Verzuz between him and Soulja Boy would be fun,” Huff Post editor Phil Lewis wrote in a tweet that garnered a flood of commentary about the idea. In one tweet, a user agreed that the pairing of the two rappers makes the most sense. “Bow Wow vs. Soulja Boy Verzuz the only one that truly makes sense for the both of them imo,” he wrote.
An individual siding with the “Bounce with Me” emcee tweeted, “We might rightfully clown Bow Wow all the time, but make no mistake, Bow Wow would wash Soulja Boy in a #VERZUZ.”
A Soulja Boy fan claimed the battle would be an easy victory for the “Crank That” hitmaker. “Mannnn, the idea of this is disrespectful to Soulja Boy. He’s in a whole different league than Bow Wow,” he began. “How you not even gonna put the national anthem ‘(Turn My Swag On)’ on here?”
One Twitter user even shared a photo of her self-created cheat sheet that paired Bow Wow’s “Shortie Like Mine” with Omarion to Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” featuring Sammie, and “Fresh Az Im Iz” to “Pretty Boy Swag.”
Bow Wow and Soulja Boy collaborated with each other on the 2008 hit “Marco Polo,” but later found themselves in a years long beef that included debates about who actually owned their Lamborghinis and whether Nas killed hip hop. They eventually reunited and released the Ignorant Shit mixtape in 2016.
