Mulatto is shutting down rumors that she said colorism doesn’t exist during a discussion on the app Clubhouse.

On Tuesday (Dec. 1), the “Bitch From Da Souf” emcee took to Twitter to address the allegations, which have since caused her to be a trending topic for hours. “I WOULD NEVER SAY NO SHIT LIKE COLORISM DOESN’T EXIST!” she tweeted. In a follow-up message she wrote, “Please stop with the false narrative!”

The rumors started circulating on Monday (Nov. 30) after Twitter user @kissmeriver tweeted, “Why would Mulatto go on Clubhouse and say colorism isn’t real??????? ughhh.” Her tweet was quoted over 1,000 times as people were upset that Mulatto would ever say something like that.

People on Twitter were displeased to hear about the alleged comments. Social media user @HoodSocialism tweeted, “You should just automatically assume any person calling themselves ‘Mulatto’ is a colorist…. Like, you couldn’t come up with something else, Miss. Lousiana Purchase??”

However, other people defended the Queen of Da Souf rapper. “I don’t believe Mulatto said colorism isn’t real when she literally has talked about it multiple times in multiple songs,” tweeted @LaadyySAVAGE_.

Aside from the colorism drama, Mulatto is reportedly considering changing her infamous rap moniker after receiving so much backlash about it. During an interview with HipHopDX at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, she was asked about the controversy surrounding her stage name and she says she is thinking about changing it.

“I can’t say too much because we’re working on something right now, but I would be lying to say it hasn’t crossed my mind before,” Mulatto said. “It is a controversy that I hear and see every day as far as my name goes, so I would be lying to say no I never thought of that. But, I can’t say too much right now because it’s going to be a part of something bigger.”
