For the few unaware, Certified Lover Boy has finally arrived today (Sept. 3). In addition, the Toronto star has decided to drop off a new video from the project for “Way 2 Sexy,” which features past collaborators Young Thug and Future. Said clip for the TM88 and Too Dope-produced track contains all of the action and humor that Drake’s become well known for.
The world had been waiting for Drake to release his sixth studio album — titled Certified Lover Boy — since he revealed its title in a post promoting the Lil Durk-assisted “Laugh Now Cry Later.” Now finally here, it follows 2018’s Scorpion, a double album of sorts that saw 25 tracks with additional features from JAY-Z, Ty Dolla $ign, and late artists Static Major and Michael Jackson. Despite a polarizing critical response, Scorpion still put up hall of fame numbers — in fact, the chart-topping body of work secured its first of five Platinum certifications a day prior to its actual release thanks to the already popular standouts “God’s Plan,” “Nice for What,” and “I’m Upset.”
Despite the timeframe, Drake has been keeping us well fed since. 2019 saw both the quick-strike EP The Best in the World Pack — a response to the Toronto Raptors winning its first NBA championship — and Care Package, a collection of songs released from 2010 to 2016 that hadn’t yet landed on streaming platforms. Last year, he followed that with Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a commercial mixtape that 14 cuts and contributions from GIVĒON, Chris Brown, Playboi Carti, Fivio Foreign, and more. This past March, he also dropped off Scary Hours 2 — in addition to Drake and Rick Ross’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” becoming heavily remixed by other rap peers, the other two tracks on the project, “What’s Next” and the Lil Baby-backed “Wants and Needs,” peaked at number one and two on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, respectively.
With all of that said, enjoy “Way 2 Sexy” below.
