Drake has been warming up 2018 with some guest appearances and a historic Billboard run, and now he’s looking to set the summer off with his new single, “Nice For What.”
On his new record, Drizzy enlists Noah “40” Shebib, BlaqNmilD, and Allen Ritter to cook up a hit-ready combo of New Orleans bounce and a sample from Ms. Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor,” while dropping his women-empowering rhymes throughout. The song seems primed to continue Drake’s reign on the charts.
As if the record itself wasn’t enough, Drake also released a star-studded video, with appearances from Tiffany Haddish, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, Yara Shahidi, Misty Copeland, and more.
The song will add even more momentum to Drake’s year. He dropped his Scary Hours EP with “Diplomatic Immunity” and “God’s Plan” in January, with the latter song spending ten straight weeks at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100. He’s also gotten busy on collaborations, appearing on BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive,” a remix of N.E.R.D’s “Lemon,” Migos’ (“Walk It Like I Talk It“) and Trouble’s (“Bring It Back“). His Beats 1 Radio show OVOSound has also returned.
In short, Drake season is underway.
