Currently, the Dreamville team is riding the wave of the exciting momentum ignited by their recent Dreamvillefest announcement. EarthGang decided it’s the perfect time to deliver a fan-favorite clip from the vault as they share the official music video for “Meditate” featuring labelmate J.I.D. The track is the introduction song from their well-loved Rags project. On “Meditate,” their guest of honor J.I.D is given the duty to open up the track with his hard-hitting first verse:
Okay, everybody wanna be a n***a, but nobody wanna be a n***a when it’s time to be a nigga/ If you thinkin’ it, then say it, when you see a n***a; please be clear, I rhyme, I do not mind read
I ride the beat then have your girl ride the C-train to me to ride the D, and give me brain, and you can see the stains I place upon the sheet—oh, you gon’ come for me?/ Well, my nigga, you better have an army at least—more than a gun for me
In terms of recent collaborations, Johnny Venus assisted Sinéad Harnett in her “Take Me Away” video that dropped earlier this year, and they also dropped a highly anticipated single with Wale titled “Options” back in December. Most recently, they joined Angelique Kidjo for “Take It Or Leave It.”
EarthGang’s collective Spillage Village shared their Spilligion project a year ago, which featured an array of guest artists including Chance the Rapper, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Masego. The album was preceded by singles like “Baptize,” “Hapi” and “End of Daze.” Earthgang’s last full length project Mirrorland made landfall back in September of 2019, a project that boasted fan favorites like “Proud Of U” with Young Thug, “Bank,” and “Tequila” featuring T-Pain.
