Back at the top of March, Drake unleashed his Scary Hours 2 pack, which contained his well-received Rick Ross collab “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.” Fellow rappers such as Meek Mill recognized the potential of the undeniably smooth beat and started delivering their own remixes. EarthGang is the latest to share their version, and they made sure to provide an accompanying visual for it as well. On the song, Johnny Venus makes sure to do the beat justice:
As I press record the rain starts to pour, dot called and said I should bare it all/ How I been dealin’ with the passing of my pa/ How God always seems to add another straw, how I hit the road and pass the passport like a hundred thousand times but I never stop to pause
Q with me, I can hear it in his calls, we missing Mac but we try to shake it off/ We came at that right time, the crossing of lifelines/ So like the tears, ink starts to fall, rewrite the history you witnessin’
Most recently, Johnny Venus assisted Sinéad Harnett in her new “Take Me Away” video that dropped earlier this year, and they also dropped a highly anticipated single with Wale titled “Options” back in December. EarthGang’s collective Spillage Village shared their Spilligion project back in September, which featured an array of guest artists including Chance the Rapper, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Masego. The album was preceded by singles like “Baptize,” “Hapi” and “End of Daze.” Earthgang’s last full length project Mirrorland made landfall back in September of 2019, a project that boasted fan favorites like “Proud Of U” with Young Thug, “Bank,” and “Tequila” featuring T-Pain.
