Earlier this month, Alicia Keys made a big return with her new single “LALA (Unlocked),” a collaboration alongside Swae Lee and Mike WiLL Made-It that beautifully samples Tyrone Davis’ 70’s classic “In The Mood.” The track should be a perfect addition for any lovers’ playlist with its seductive subject matter:
“Happy but you’re unhappy, shorty, you’re so valid, I’m ready when you’re ready, don’t you know eyes can be so deadly? I try not to think, but you made me, it’s just a G thing, baby, now all in my satin sheets, you’re layin’, walk through the door, there you were…”
Today (Sept. 23), the R&B legend reveals a new visual for the track, which comes courtesy of Sylvia M. Zakhary and Sing J Lee. The clip takes place in a lavish, ballroom-styled venue, where Keys, Swae Lee, and Mike WiLL can be seen toasting to success — a young girl can also be seen taking in the experience throughout. In addition, the video sees a wealth of cameo appearances from the likes of Gunna, Lena Waithe, Lucky Daye, Russell Westbrook, Snoop Dogg, Khalid, D Smoke, and Slim Jxmmi.
It’s been about a year since Alicia Keys liberated her seventh studio LP Alicia, which came with 15 tracks and a slew of assists from Sampha, Tierra Whack, Miguel, Snoh Aalegra, Jill Scott, and more. Since then, Keys seems to enjoy a bit of a vacation from the music circuit — she did provide her vocals for tracks DMX’s “Hold Me Down” and a remix of Nicky Jam and Rauw Alejandro’s “Underdog.” She also blessed her day one fans with a second deluve edition of Songs In A Minor in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary. Hopefully, a new body of work isn’t to far into the distance.
