Next week (July 30), Isaiah Rashad will finally liberate his sophomore LP The House is Burning, which is led by the well-received singles “Lay Wit Ya” with Duke Deuce and “Headshots (4r Da Locals).” Today (July 23), we get to check out another single from said project titled “Wat U Sed,” a Rory Behr and Amaire Johnson-produced effort that sees additional assists from Doechii and Kal Banx. The track — which first premiered in some shape or form during REASON’s New Beginnings listening party last year — sees the Top Dawg Entertainment star breaking down what sounds like a lit night out, complete with all of your favorite vices:
“Ayy, bitch, can I break you off? Trunk wavin’ at the mall, hoes on your side of town hate when they ain’t involved, geeked on my brudda pack, beat and I’m overcharged, hurt, what I’m servin’ in it, spread like the word of God, fuck what a nigga do, reach for some inner peace, geeked on my side of town, dope when I’m slidin’ down, ghost when I’m slidin’ down, ghost when I’m slidin’ down, Porsche when I’m slidin’ down…”
Five years ago, Isaiah Rashad graced us with his debut The Sun’s Tirade, which saw 17 cuts and contributions from SiR, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Kari Faux, Syd, Jay Rock, and more. A top 20 success on the Billboard 200, The Sun’s Tirade was met with critical acclaim, landing on several best-of charts and magazine lists thanks to now-classic songs like “Free Lunch” and “4r Da Squaw.”
Meanwhile, Doechii is probably better known via the social media platform TikTok thanks to the viral single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake.” As far as Kal Banx, TDE fans should already be more than familiar with the Dallas talent thanks to previous releases alongside others from that star-studded roster.
