Currently, Isaiah Rashad is said to be putting the final touches on his long-awaited sophomore LP The House is Burning, which — in addition to the presumed non-album drop “200/Warning” — is led by the well-received singles “Lay Wit Ya” and “Headshots (4r Da Locals),” the latter of which sees Rashad divulging how he’s been feeling from a mental standpoint:
“It feel good since a nigga been back, but a nigga done changed, changed, changed, changed, changed, weed couldn’t settle my fire, couldn’t cover my pain, pain, pain, pain, pain…”
Following an amped-up visual for “Lay Wit Ya,” we can now enjoy a visual for “Headshots,” which comes courtesy of Jack Begert and Mez Heirs.
Referring to Rashad’s pre-album troubles, the clip starts with the TDE star bartending, before an unoccupied alcoholic drink transports us to an AA meeting — essentially, the video’s main focal point. Viewers can also see shots of Rashad out in the desert, two men who have apparently shot each other, and other trippy scenes all joined together by a variety of circles. The video ends with Rashad being picked up by his homies, before taking a swig of what looks like a tequila bottle before the truck rides off. Expect to play this one over a few times to catch everything.
It’s been five years since Isaiah Rashad released his official debut LP The Sun’s Tirade, a 17-track offering that saw additional appearances from SiR, Zacari, Kendrick Lamar, Deacon Blues, Kari Faux, Syd, Hugh Augustine, Jay Rock, and SZA. Not long after that, the Chattanooga emcee went radio silent, save for last year’s single drop — “Why Worry” — and occasional assists on tracks like SZA’s “Pretty Little Birds,” Tokimonsta’s “No Way,” and YGTUT’s “Trill Dreams.” Fans could also see Rashad entertaining to some degree via his social media accounts.
