Less than a month ago, Dave East teamed up with Massachusetts emcee Millyz for the six-track EP Pablo & Blanco, which featured Shy Gawdly and Statik Selektah on the standout cuts “Groupie” and “Chapo,” respectively. This week, he took to social media to announce that he’ll soon be following that collaboration with his next solo LP Hoffa, which will see production from Harry Fraud and curation from Westside Gunn — the latter of which is presumably responsible for the album’s artwork, a painting by Mariella Angela that was revealed at Gunn’s Buffalo Kids Gallery. Added to the aforementioned news is a new single titled “They Gotta Hate Us,” which sees East rapping about the usual subject matter that he’s known for — street politics, career successes, and more:

“My status like the god here, trenches on the lawn chair, ass so fat, we all stare, pretty face with blond hair, I walk like a ball player, pain, I got so used to that, like, ‘why you showing us your strap, when you knowin’ you ain’t usin’ that?,’ never spit confusin’ rap, I’m straight to the point wit’ mine, mad at me, ‘cause when it comes to this life, know I’m enjoyin’ mine…”

Chronically, Hoffa will follow last year’s Karma 3, the third installment of East’s Karma mixtape series that first made landfall back in 2017. When first released, the project saw 15 tracks with additional assists from Popcaan, Trey Songz, Trouble, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Doe Boy, Young Dolph, Bino Rideaux, Benny The Butcher, and Mary J. Blige. Months later, a deluxe version of Karma 3 would surface with eight more cuts and added contributions from DeJ Loaf, Junior Reid, Chris Brown, G Herbo, and Jeezy.
