Griselda took over 2020 with their consistent releases and undeniable presence. They’re coming for 2021’s neck as well, as they gear up to drop CONFLICTED. At the start of 2020, Westside Gunn teased the forthcoming film from his Griselda imprint, and the soundtrack for the film will now officially be out Friday, Jan 8th. Today, Griselda/BSF Records has dropped another track from it “The Hurt Business” ft. Westside Gunn, Smoke DZA and Wale.
The new track follows “3:30 In Houston” from Benny The Butcher, which was his first solo release since he was the target of a Houston, TX shooting where he suffered a leg wound in November. The soundtrack will feature names like Dave East, Lloyd Banks, Armani Caesar, Body James, Flee Lord, ElCamino, Eto, Ransom, among others. It will include production from Griselda in house producer Daringer, the late DJ Shay, Camouflage Monk, Cee Gee, IceRoxx, Fuse, 808 Mafia, and more.
Directed by AK Reed, the film is a tale depicting Benny the Butcher as a Buffalo gangster who struggles to do right after being released from prison. Faced with the dilemmas of his fresh start, Hunter (Benny The Butcher) declared never to go back to the game that had cost him his freedom. In the process of getting back on track, he falls in love but is soon confronted with the demons of his past, leaving him CONFLICTED. Written and starring Deuce King, the movie’s cast also includes Westside Gunn, Michael Rapaport, J Holiday, among others.
Westside Gunn recently dropped off his FLYGOD album on streaming services on Christmas to cap the year off. 2020 also saw the release of his other projects like Pray For Paris and Who Made The Sunshine.
