Currently, Westside Gunn is preparing to release his latest project Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Sincerely, Adolf, the final in one of the Griselda camp’s most iconic series. Today, he provides fans with not one, but two new singles from the forthcoming effort.
The first is “Julia Lang,” a Camoflauge Monk-produced cut that’s named after the brand consultant and marketing guru behind Westside Gunn and many of your favorite celebrities. The meandering production is perfect for Gunn’s vivid bars about street life:
“Ayo, my Yeezys lookin’ like moon boots, my man killed my other man, it’s a lose-lose, stick swingin’, dumpin’ out the moon roof … do ‘em dirty eatin’ wam-wam and zoom-zooms/”
“Julia Lang” also sees a short, Revenxnt-directed video that begins with a dapper Gunn in the studio with Julia Lang, who’s seen donning a Melitta Baumeister dress on the couch nearby — Conway The Machine also makes a cameo appearance. They eventually head out into New York City’s streets to catch another glimpse of Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 7 billboard that remained up high in Times Square for the past couple of years.
Thought void of a visual, “TV Boy” makes just as much of an impact, thanks to Daringer and Beat Butcher’s menacing backdrop. Westside Gunn doesn’t waver in regards to the aforementioned subject matter on this track, either:
“Ayo, we whip-whop dishes, four-fifth in the Enfantes Riches, Fifty-K for the Dolce and Gabana, refrigerator in the kitchen, hand me the ice, Lord, sellin’ dope part of my religion/”
Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Sincerely, Adolf will follow last year’s well-received bodies of work Pray for Paris, Who Made the Sunshine, and Flygod is an Awesome God II. Add in equally dope releases from Griselda cohorts Conway, Benny The Butcher, Boldy James, and Armani Caesar, it’s clear that 2020 is a great sign of what’s to come.
Press play on both “Julia Lang” and “TV Boy” below.
