With Griselda’s energy having been heavily felt in the music industry for some time now, their impact is undeniable. The epic run of Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, and Westside Gunn alone has been one for the ages and they’ve certainly gained a tremendous amount of respect from some of the best in Hip Hop through the years. Westside Gunn’s debut studio album FLYGOD played a pivotal role in the inked deal with Eminem’s Shady Records and rightfully so, it is one of the most memorable from his discography. Today, the Buffalo rapper gifts us with the opportunity to stream and download FLYGOD on all streaming services.
Though FLYGOD hasn’t been on the DSPs (digital service providers) since its release in 2016, fans have been in uproar in the reasoning why (more than likely having sample clearance issues like many of our other favorite projects). Yesterday, the Griselda rapper took to his social media to announce the album’s streaming service arrival and it was honestly the best news of the day:
“FLYGOD ALBUM RETURNS 12/25 thank u too the Fans this Album is wat started a whole lane no labels, no budget, no PR, no management just pure Hip Hop and everybody I owe a shirt too gets a FLYGOD shirt never released — I LOVE U ALL #FLYGOD #MASTERPIECE #CLASSIC #ICON #BUFFALOKIDS #GXFR #Culture”
It’s a big win for all of us, especially those who have never even experienced Gunn’s FLYGOD to begin with. Seeing as it went on to spark an entire movement, with albums like FLYGOD Is An Awesome God 1 & 2 emerging in its wake, the significance of FLYGOD should not go unappreciated. If you’re reading this, make sure you take the time to tap into Gunn’s debut album below while you indulge in your eggnog.
