Griselda’s Westside Gunn has provided an update on Benny the Butcher’s condition following this weekend’s shooting. “I usually wouldn’t even post this, but Buzz went from the hospital to a private jet to smoking butchers breath with me,” he wrote alongside a photo of Benny relaxed in a reclining chair with a blunt in his hand.
Gunn’s update comes hours after the “Legend” emcee posted a video of him using crutches to board a private jet on his Instagram Story.
Benny was reportedly shot on Saturday (Nov. 14) while at a Walmart parking lot in Houston, Texas. According to reports, five masked men pulled up to Benny and his friends, “whipped out guns” and demanded their chains. One of the robbers eventually shot the rapper in the leg because the group was moving too slow, prompting everyone to flee the scene.
Benny and his team eventually pulled over and called the cops when they felt it was safe enough. The suspects — who were last seen driving a Chevy Malibu — are still free as officers conduct an investigation into the shooting.
Benny was the only one injured during the gunfire, but the second rapper shot in the leg over the weekend. On the same day of his incident, Boosie was shot in Dallas and later treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. He was in town to honor the life of his friend and frequent collaborator Mo3 — the rapper who was tailed, caught and killed on a Dallas freeway on Wednesday (Nov. 11).
November has proved to be a trying month for the hip-hop community as shootings have hurt some and successfully killed others. On Nov. 6, King Von — whose family recently celebrated his life in a private funeral — was fatally shot on outside of an Atlanta lounge. Dallas rapper Dr. Rose was also injured in a separate shooting on Thursday (Nov. 12).
