At the stroke of midnight (February 19), Kelly Rowland will unveil her new EP K, which will feature six dope cuts from the Destiny’s Child alum. Before that project makes landfall, the veteran songstress liberates a new video for “Black Magic,” a powerful track centered around the power within us and our communities that sees production from SAK PASE:
“We bring the glow to the sun, we bring the laughter to fun, we start the new religion, baby, we woop the world then left it brainlеss, mandingo shit, this feels so rich, when it all goes down, how will they world look without us?/
The visual comes courtesy of Mayowa and Emanuele Pica, and exudes beautiful Black excellence throughout. Viewers are able to see various shots of African-Americans living their lives and striving for success, all mixed with footage of Rowland enjoying time with her two children. It’s impossible not to smile when watching this colorful clip.
“Black Magic” follows the recent singles “Love You More At Christmas Time,” “Coffee,” “Crazy,” and “Hitman,” the last two of which will appear on K. Prior to that, fans got to enjoy the 2019 EP The Kelly Rowland Edition, Rowland’s first independent release that came with a behind the scenes documentary via Red Bull Music.
Rowland’s last full-length LP, Talk A Good Game, made landfall back in 2013 and boasted collaborations with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, The-Dream, and her Destiny’s Child sisters Beyoncé and Michelle Williams. Talk A Good Game also did well commercial, peaking within the top five of the Billboard 200 during its first week of release.
