2021 has seen Papoose getting rather creative with his musical output — thus far, the Brooklyn emcee has managed to release an EP for every month of the year, collaborating with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, E-40, Jim Jones, Vado, The Game, Smoke DZA, Anthony Hamilton, (his wife) Remy Ma, and more throughout. For his latest visual, Pap reaches back to September to revisit “Thought I Was Gonna Stop,” a Timbaland-produced effort that sees him trading high level bars alongside none other than Lil Wayne, who matches his East Coast counterpart with a plethora of eyebrow-raising punchlines for fans to enjoy:
“While y’all been on TikTok, I been on B.I.G., Pac, big Glock, it’s Alfred Hitchcock, get your kid rocked, silk shock a nigga like P brother, tree lover, fell in love with a bitch, my bitch just told me she love her, we run it, been running this shit, I can’t feel my legs, your brother got them birds, have my niggas come and steal his eggs, I be on a million meds, I can put your doctor on, Dana White diamonds on, stones look like a octagon…”
Courtesy of StreetHeat comes an accompanying visual showcasing the two rappers in different colorful rooms, complete with some CGI to help match match their way of words — for example, one scene sees Papoose zapped into a ballpark in the middle of his baseball metaphors. A couple of young dancers can be seen throughout the short clip as well.
When it comes to features, Lil Wayne has been returning to his mixtape era work ethic and obliterating many of your favorite hits, rapping alongside the likes of G-Eazy, Logic, Run The Jewels, Moneybagg Yo, AZ, Tyler, The Creator, Drake, and Westside Gunn, among a wealth of others. As far as his next body of work, it’s hopeful that he’s still working on Tha Carter VI and I Am Not A Human Being III.
