Since releasing his Funeral project in January of last year, Lil Wayne has been dropping bars on features and movie soundtracks. According to Young Money President Mack Maine, however, the emcee has been hard at work on not one, but three upcoming albums. He recently revealed the news during a conversation on Twitter Spaces.
“Anybody that’s like a Wayne fan, they know that I Am Not A Human Being III is up, coming up soon,” Maine said when asked if Wayne has any new music on the way. He then suggested that the two other projects are collaborative albums. “Wayne and Rich the Kid have a project together that’s coming out soon,” he continued.
“ColleGrove [2] is coming out soon, with him and 2 Chainz —I was about to say Tity Boi, we still call him Tity Boi. But uh, yeah, so it’s a lot of music Wayne’s working on.”
While the joint announcement of three Wayne albums sounds exciting, neither of the future releases are a complete surprise. The hype surrounding the sequel of his Lil Wayne-assisted Collegrove, for example, came last year when 2 Chainz announced that the unreleased project would come out in 2020.
Rich the Kid teased his project with Wayne several times within the last few years with posts in Tunechi’s studio and previews of their unreleased records. Earlier this year, the Rich Forever Music CEO took to his TikTok page to share a photo from Weezy’s Miami studio alongside the caption: “What have I & Lil Wayne been working on for so long?”
As for the third installment of Weezy’s I Am Not a Human Being III, fans’ anticipation for the project increased after he dropped No Ceilings 3. “Be ready for I Am Not a Human Being III,” DJ Khaled said on the outro to the record. “The album coming 2021.”
