About a couple of weeks ago, Dom Kennedy made a huge return with his latest project From The Westside With Love Three, which contains 15 dope cuts and additional contributions from TeeFlii, True Whitaker, Kay Franklin, MyGuyMars, Frank$, Bryan Roberts, and Quentin Miller — the last of whom provided his verse for the Hit-Boy-produced “Don’t Walk Away.” This past weekend, the Cali veteran decided to keep the momentum going with a new visual from said project for the Franklin and Mars-backed “Deep Thought,” which sees additional production from Mike & Keys, ANDROFOURTYSEVEN, and Cameron Joseph. The track sees the collaborators focused on money, women, and living life:
“These niggas get emotional over dough, I’m smoking trees out in Malibu with Clicquot, Marathon John got the bag of gummies, two nights in a row, damn this bitch love me, don’t ask for a verse, ask what’s the price, six figures when I’m parked at the light, jewels on my neck, I just look light, this lil’ bitch bad, got her bag right…”
The accompanying clip comes courtesy of Jason Madison and sees Dom & Co. set up for a fly performance on the beach, complete with flowers and some champagne to match the overall vibe. All-in-all, the clip is simple and to the point — it also creates hope for a tour of similar stylings in the future.
From the Westside with Love and From the Westside with Love II were released in 2010 and 2011, respectively, and featured memorable collaborations with OverDoz., Skeme, Big K.R.I.T., ScHoolboy Q, Casey Veggies, and more. More recently, Dom reconnected with Hit-Boy for Also Known As, their second joint effort released under the name Half-A-Mil. That project saw 11 cuts and additional assists from 03 Greedo, 24hrs, and Nas. Months later, Dom would keep the music coming with the solo drop Rap N Roll, a 17-song body of work with contributions from Veggies, 24hrs, Allyn, Nike G4, and TeeFlii. A deluxe edition of Rap N Roll later made landfall for five more cuts and a new collaboration alongside Don Toliver.
