Along with the rest of the Ruff Ryders, The LOX have been providing hard-hitting street anthems to the masses since well before the turn of the century. Years after the release of their third album Filthy America… It’s Beautiful, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch return with a new single titled “Loyalty and Love,” which is produced by Smiley’s People and Jimmy Dukes and serves as a reminder than family, blood or otherwise, should always come first:
“You know what the f*** it is, I ain’t got a f*** to give, I ain’t got a buck to give, the n***as on that sucker s***/
Got me on my ‘93, Wu, bring the rucker s***, only break bread with the homies that I suffered with/
That sucker s*** don’t reside here, you should slide or die from a wild n***as idea/
We in the Taj in some fly gear, money machine, machine gun homie I swear, I dare you to be loyal, try to diarrhea/”
The black-and-white clip mixes footage of the group performing in different locations around Yonkers, mixed with old school footage of street life in New York. It proves that, in regards to The LOX, allegiance to your loves ones is law.
Their last album, Filthy America… It’s Beautiful, dropped in 2016, and featured 12 tracks and assistance from Gucci Mane, Fetty Wap, Mobb Deep, and more. A whopping 16 years prior saw The LOX’s sophomore LP We Are The Streets, a notable release that signified their break from Bad Boy following a highly publicized feud. They did use that time in between to deliver three volumes of their Trinity EP series in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
