On 1997’s “Victory,” The Notorious B.I.G. gave a very well-known shout-out to a Yonkers trio by the name of The Lox.

“Break bread, with the ‘Kiss, Peniro, Sheek Louch,” he famously raps.

While he would go on to do a roll call of everyone under the Bad Boy Records umbrella, the fact that the names of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek were even mentioned right after Sean “Diddy” Combs was a testament to the tight bond shared between the rappers. Additionally, it also helped that they were among the laundry list of guest features on Big Poppa’s magnum opus, Life After Death as well as the very few to ever share a freestyle session with Invisible Bully (“You’ll See” and “Cream.”)

“We got one up on wall of these dudes, because just being in the presence and being able to be there during the recording of Life After Death is [such] a timeless experience for the hip-hop culture,” remembered Jadakiss.
