Moving forward from his successful 2019 release Bad Habits, Canadian artist-producer NAV returns with a new single titled “Turks,” which sees him partnering up with Atlanta star Gunna and adding on Travis Scott for the assist. The Wheezy-produced cut sees the collaborators inspired from an apparently vacation they took together, leading to care-free, alpha subject matter:
“I’m a late bloomer, third year on the scene, twenty racks don’t feel like nothin’ to me/
Came from the streets, it turned me to a beast, invisible set, diamonds huggin’ my piece/
Book me for a show, I need eighty at least, I want the smoke, ain’t no keepin’ the peace/
Keep me a razor when I’m in the East, open ‘em up just like a surgery/
Everything burnin’ around me, I’m lit, show a lil’ attitude, swap out the bitch/
I spent two-fifty, don’t know where it went, my hood on my back, I gotta represent
Toronto, you useless, you don’t got a pole, warm that boy up, he got shot in the cold…/”
“Turks” was originally premiered during Cash XO’s Vegas-themed birthday party in Toronto this past January — at the time, the song was said to be titled “Hard To Replace.” Another snippet surfaced in the same month, before another one with Gunna added on appeared in February.
NAV, Gunna and Travis Scott were last heard together on wax when Scott dropped the ASTROWORLD cut “YOSEMITE.” Since then, all artists have seen significant success — NAV released his Billboard 200 number one album Bad Habits in 2019, while Gunna liberated his Drip Or Drown 2 project in the same year.
Press play on “Turks” below, which precedes a new album that we hope will arrive before year’s end. In related news, Gunna recently dropped off a new single of his own — you can check out “Skybox” here.
