Currently, Kevin Gates is said to be working on his forthcoming album Khaza, the official follow-up to his 2019 sophomore LP I’m Him. This year alone, he’s already blessed his fanbase with tracks like “Dreka,” “Always Be Gangsta Freestyle,” “Wetty (Freestyle),” “Still Hold Up,” “Grandmotha Grave,” “Difficult,” and “Weeks,” in addition to features alongside Tory Lanez, Fredo Bang, Bodega Bamz, and MO3. Today, he drops off a new track titled “Wonderland,” a street love song of sorts given the lyrical subject matter:
“Say I’m a hopeless romantic, and I gotta get in control of my feelings, I’m ‘bout to go in a mansion, bust open a book and then turn on a blender, I got that coke and the Hammer, now I’m in the streets, if it wasn’t for me/
She’d f***ed a few n***as that play in the league, but fell for a n***a who play with them keys, we f*** on the floor, on a mattress, she tell me she never felt d*** in her stomach, she makin’ these faces, she screamin’/”
In addition to the featureless and top five charting success I’m Him, 2019 also saw an EP from Kevin Gates titled Only the Generals Gon Understand, which, despite only having six songs, landed within the top 20 of the Billboard 200. Prior to that, his official big label debut, Islah, made landfall back in 2016.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Kevin Gates spoke on how he’s been staying healthy during this year’s quarantine, which includes working out and meditation:
“I do that in the morning and it helps me kind of navigate which way my day is gonna go… Do the hard part in the morning, and the rest of the day is easy.”
Fans can press play on Gates’ “Wonderland” below. Khaza will hopefully be arriving soon.
