Currently, Kevin Gates is said to be working on his third studio album Khaza. Today, he gives fans a taste of what to expect with his new single “Weeks,” which sees production from Boi-1da and Vinylz. The track shows that Kevin Gates isn’t showing any signs of shutting down in regards to quality street music:
“He tried to set me up in Dallas, broke into his own car, he not knowin’ that I’m psychic, and I glow in the dark, light on us while in Houston, we got throwed in the cross, sidestepping ‘fore he could set me, punch a hole in my heart…/”
Directed by E. Buckles, Kevin Gates can be seen riding with his right-hand man through the streets. Elsewhere, he can be found standing at a window of a house with infra-red beams pointing in his direction.
Khaza will follow last September’s I’m Him, which saw 17 tracks from the Baton Rouge emcee. That project debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, earning 72,000 album equivalent units during its first week of release and eventually scoring Gates a Gold plaque. In the same year, fans got to check out Gates’ second EP Only the Generals Gon Understand, featuring six hard-hitting cuts for fans to enjoy.
Recently, Kevin Gates was also recently in the headlines for a social media post in regards to his son Khaza (who the new album is named after) — apparently, someone made the mistake of thinking that he was a girl:
“One time a dude say, ‘Aw, she’s so cute.’ And he kinda got offended about it and started getting upset … I said, ‘Man, don’t do that no more. If a n***a say you look like a girl, tell ’em no you ain’t no girl.’ Tell ’em you got a big d***.”
