DJ Chose knew he had a viral hit on his hands when he saw “Thick” picking up steam on social media these last few months. He decided to add a boost to the song and recruited fellow Texas native Megan Thee Stallion to do her thing on the remix. The track’s originator confirmed on Instagram Thee Stallion swooped in with a much-appreciated and last-minute assist on the track. “Love you Megan,” DJ Chose writes under her post. “Thank you for comin’ through in the Clutch.”

Right before quarantine hit earlier this year, Megan delivered saw her EP Suga, which contains nine cuts and assists from Kehlani and Gunna. One standout from Suga in particular, the viral “Savage,” received a remix courtesy of Beyoncé and subsequently earned Megan Thee Stallion her first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.

When she’s not busy making hits, she’s occupied with making a positive impact within her community and in her supporters’ lives. On Oct. 8, Megan announced she is partnering with Rap Rotation (Amazon Music’s global hip hop brand) to award $10,000 scholarships to two lucky women of color. The scholarship applies to students “that are pursuing an associates, bachelors, or post-graduate degree.”

Megan stacked more wins this month as she went home with multiple victories from the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, scoring three awards for Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, and Best Collaboration for her “Savage (Remix) collaboration with Beyoncé. In a recent interview, Meg reflected on what it feels like to cross off her dreams and goals one by one:

“I’m just so grateful because I remember being young and watching the BET Awards and just being like, ‘I’mma do that one day – that’s gon’ be me’. And for me? To have spoken that? Onto myself? I was like, ‘Giiiirl – go Meg!’ And now I’m one of the women – I’m one of the artists in this generation that you are gonna remember, and that you’re going to be talking about to your kids. I’m just excited to be a part of a generation where people are going to be looking up to us one day.”
