Yesterday, Megan Thee Stallion took to social media to reveal that she had a new freestyle that she meant to release on Monday, which sees her delivering hard-hitting bars over production from LilJuMadeDaBeat. Viewable from both her social media and YouTube, Megan can be seen in the booth reminding listeners why she’s the one that currently on top:
“I’m a hot girl, I don’t do titles, if I do date, it’ll be Michael, keep s*** spicy, T.I.P. and Tiny, yellow bone chick look like Kehlani, freak in the sheets, freak on the beats/
N***as been hooked since “Big Ole Freak,” I realized that I was the s*** when R&B n***as wanna start rap beef, these n***as ain’t got no name on ‘em, wish these h*** stop tryna put claim on ‘em/”
The freestyle follows recent singles like “Freak” with Tyga, “Girls in the Hood,” and the Young Thug-assisted “Don’t Stop,” which features Young Thug. This year also saw her release the EP Suga, which contains nine cuts and assists from Kehlani and Gunna. One standout from Suga in particular, the viral “Savage,” received a remix courtesy of Beyoncé and subsequently earned Megan Thee Stallion her first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Last night saw Megan Thee Stallion win big at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, scoring three awards for Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, and Best Collaboration for her aforementioned collaboration with Beyoncé.
In a recent interview with NME, Megan spoke on being able to work on her forthcoming album during the quarantine:
“I feel like I had been through so much; I was just finally ready to commit to the process… When I’m by myself, that’s when my creativity comes to me. The whole album was basically written in the living room, the shower, the backyard – just visualise it with me.”
