Since starting her farewell tour last month, Teyana Taylor has been leaving her heart on each stage, giving fans a show to remember. Unfortunately, however, her strenuous performances resulted in her hospitalization and her subsequent absence from a scheduled show in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
On Sunday (Nov. 28), the “Rose in Harlem” singer took to Instagram to thank fans, the Femme It Forward team and concert promoters, her daughter Junie and artists Ari Lennox and Sevyn Streeter for being understanding and accommodating despite the unexpected changes.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for all the warm love, sweet videos & prayers from my CT rose petals…. I love y’all!” Taylor wrote next to a photo of her in a hospital bed.
“Thank you for being so understanding. Y’all know Petunia don’t miss no shows & most importantly, know I’ve been leaving it all on tha stage for a month straight 1000%. So I am really saddened to have not been able to do the same for you last night.”
The Harlem native explained that members of her team “tried everything” to get her on stage, noting past instances where she’s performed with a broken foot. Instead, her body “simply just gave out” and “shut down,” teaching her a lesson about taking care of her health.
“Honestly you have to listen to your body and know when to sit down; or it will definitely sit you down….. ,” she shared. “In the ER, mine sat my ass down in the ER for sure, but I’ve since got the proper fluids and nutrients put back into my body all night/morning & will take the next few off days to continue to recover.”
According to Taylor, the Mashantucket show will be rescheduled for a later date and tickets will be honored.
