A few months ago, Rod Wave dropped off his third studio LP SoulFly, which contained 19 tracks with a single feature from Polo G and was led by the well-received standouts “Tombstone” and “Street Runner.” He then circled back to liberating a deluxe edition of SoulFly, which adds on a healthy nine cuts, along with new contributions from Kodak Black and Lil Durk. Today (Sept. 29), Wave unveils the official visual for the Durk-assisted cut “Already Won” to boost the deluxe’s momentum. The new video sees the two rappers sharing a dim-lit room as they chronicle the story of a young man’s troubled journey from the streets to becoming a rapper:
My ex had told my cousin I’m a superstar, ‘cause all around the world they know who we are/ Running behind that money got me missing my bed, chasing after that paper, I’ll sleep when I’m dead/
Back to back doing shows, I caught a jet to that bag, just in case it get rainy when I check the forecast/ I put the money in the floor ‘cause I’m too scared to go back, it took an hour and a half to count a million in cash/ Tell me why she blowing up my cellular, gotta see if I can fit you in my schedule
Rod Wave’s “Already Won” video is another installment of his introspective journey from the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida to touring across the United States. Previously, he gave fans a glimpse of his jetsetting lifestyle in the “Time Heals” video, boasting over 6.6M YouTube views to date. SoulFly solidified the Floridian star’s stance as one of hip hop’s current frontrunners, landing him his first number one on the Billboard 200 thanks to 130,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.
