Rod Wave is having an amazing year. Back in April, he liberated his third studio LP SoulFly, which contained 19 new tracks and a single assist from Polo G. The project proved to be a huge commercial win for the Floridian star, landing him his first number one on the Billboard 200 thanks to an impressive 130,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.
This week, Rod Wave drops off a brand new single titled “Forever Set In Stone,” a MarsGawd-produced cut that sees him harmonizing about loved ones, relationships, and dealing with the ups and down of success:
“Tell me how you hit my phone every time you in your feelings? But ain’t no one I can call on who feeling how I’m feeling, I can’t lie, she did it all wrong, wonder why I was trippin’, I was still lookin’ for love, comin’ straight up out them trenches, tell me how can you complain? I’m the one who made it different…”
Shot by Eye 4 Production, the accompanying clip for “Forever Set In Stone” shows Rod Wave on a treadmill, revealing that he’s working on better himself physically. The rest of the clip then sees him living the sweet life in the Virgin Islands, hitting up the studio, showing off his spoils, hanging with his crew, showing love to fans, and otherwise just keeping things as stress-free as possible — despite the pain he exhibits in his lyrics.
SoulFly follows last year’s Pray 4 Love (and its deluxe upgrade), another big success that’s since scored Rod Wave a Platinum certification. 2020 also saw him and his aforementioned collaborator Polo G joining the likes of Mulatto, Fivio Foreign, Jack Harlow, Lil Keed, NLE Choppa, and Lil Tjay as the latest XXL Freshman class.
