This Friday (September 3), Drake will finally unveil his long-awaited sixth studio LP Certified Lover Boy, which thus far as only spawned the now year-old Lil Durk-assisted single “Laugh Now Cry Later.” The confirmation was first made during a mysterious advertisement on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” followed by what’s presumed to be official artwork showing a multi-colored variety of pregnant woman emojis. The release also seems to arrive in the middle of a reignited feud with Kanye West, who surprised dropped his own body of work following a slew of inexplicable delays and grandiose listening sessions in Atlanta and — just last week — Chicago.
Yesterday (August 30), Drake took to Instagram to reveal some promotional billboards showing what’s presumed to be lyrics from CLB — among them are witty, emotionally charged lines like, “should’ve said you loved me today, because tomorrow is a new day,” and, “I don’t miss… let alone miss you.” In addition, fans will also be able to pick up some merch that Drake is releasing through Nike, which features the infamous swoosh logo on the front with the aforementioned words on the back. It’s not yet clear when these items will go live, but close associates OVO Mark and DRW Ferguson did head out in Toronto to give out tees to those fortunate enough to be in the area:
Upon its arrival, Certified Lover Boy will follow last March’s Scary Hours 2, which contained three chart-topping cuts and collaborations alongside Lil Baby and Rick Ross. Prior to that, Drake liberated the commercial mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a 14-track offering with contributions from Chris Brown, GIVĒON, Future, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, and Fivio Foreign. His last official LP, the 25-song Scorpion, was released in 2018.
