Kanye West surprised fans this weekend after he posted and then deleted a screenshot showing Drake’s Toronto home address. The Chicago native was seemingly stirring the pot as competition between the two rappers grows.
According to HipHopDX, Ye’s Instagram post, which he has since removed, included Drizzy’s house number and street location via Apple Maps. Although he later took down the post, it was up long enough for his 7.4 million followers to take notice.
“Did Kanye just post Drake’s address and then delete it like nothing happened?” one fan wrote on Twitter, causing the phrase “Drake’s address” to begin trending on the platform.
“Bro Kanye dropped Drake’s address before he dropped DONDA,” another fan reacted.
Drake also caught wind of the post, but had a good sense of humor about the situation. On his Instagram Story, the 34-year-old simply posted a clip of himself laughing while riding in a convertible car.
Both Kanye and Drake are currently adding the finishing touches to their upcoming albums Donda and Certified Lover Boy, respectively. Both LPs are expected to arrive later this year, which means there’s a possibility fans could receive them within weeks of each other. Twitter users noted this predicament last week after Kendrick Lamar revealed he’s also working on an album, adding his name to the list of highly anticipated 2021 projects.
This latest development between Kanye and Drake, however, stems from the latter’s verse on Trippie’s Redd’s new Trip at Knight (Complete Edition) album. In the song “Betrayal,” Drizzy rapped: “I done done it all, it’s like I’m Shawty Lo (Shawty)/ All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know/Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go/’Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone.”
Kanye appeared to post Drake’s address in retaliation. See a screenshot of the since-deleted post on Twitter below.
