Back in May, Jorja Smith shared her Be Right Back EP and the project included eight tracks and a sole assist from Shaybo. Now, Jorja gladly returns the favor as she joins Shaybo for her new song “My Sister” from her new project Queen of the South. The accompanying Tash Tung-directed visual takes place in a beautiful church as Shaybo and Jorja feed off of each other’s energy with the lyrics:
I’m makin’ money moves, rise and shine, on my grind, preach/ Early mornin’, late nights, I cannot get no sleep ‘cause money ain’t guaranteed/ Money ain’t guaranteed and livin’ my life ain’t cheap, livin’ my life ain’t free, yeah
There’s money in this world to be made my sister, yet, you sittin’ there cryin’ over a broke n***a/ He ripped your heart out, he left a hole in you, you should’ve listened to the signs when he was showin’ you/ He never treated you like a queen when you was buckin’ him/ So, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done or what you did for him/
The Queen of the South project includes features from names like Haile, DreamDoll, and Wale. Last year, she shared some singles like “Daily Duppy” and “Dobale,” the latter track later on receiving a remix with Bella Shmurda.
After sharing her Be Right Back EP earlier this year, Jorja Smith returned in early August with a new single “All Of This.” Produced by Grammy-nominated producer & DJ Guilty Beatz, the draws inspiration from Amapiano. was the first body of work from Jorja since her 2019 critically-acclaimed Lost & Found debut album. Lost & Found was nominated for a Mercury Prize, won her a second BRIT Award for British Female Solo Artist, and earned her a nomination for Best New Artist at the GRAMMY Awards.
