It’s been a few years since Jorja Smith released her debut album Lost & Found, a well-received project that saw 12 tracks with production assistance from the likes of Cadenza, Charlie Perry, Pounds, Felix Joseph, and Misch. Since then, she has blessed the masses with some new singles, including “Be Honest” with Burna Boy and “Come Over” with Popcaan.

This week, the UK songstress unveils another single titled “Addicted,” a Compass-produced effort that sees her singing about a love interest that isn’t showing the level of love for her that she seeks:

“What life are you living, it can’t really be real, pushing over limits, you can’t even feel, can we drink just not to care? Not care just to drink, can’t that be enough? And not take too much/

The hardest thing, you are not addicted to me, I’m the only thing you should need, you should be addicted to me…/”

The video — co-directed by Savanah Leaf — is reminiscent of Kehlani’s initial clips during the earlier days of the COVID-19 quarantine, as it seems to be filled with self-recorded shots of the breathtaking Smith performing the track from in-house locations while showing off a slew of different outfits. Regardless, fans can expect to be compelled to play this clip a few times over.

Since Lost & Found was released, Smith could be heard contributing show-stealing verses to tracks like Alex Da Kid’s “Go 2.0,” Ezra Collective’s “Reason In Disguise,” Maverick Sabre’s “Slow Down,” Burna Boy’s “Gum Body,” Giggs’ “Im Workin,” and — most recently — the remix to Enny’s “Peng Black Girls.” Presumably, songs like “Addicted” are a sign that a sophomore body of work from Smith is somewhere on the horizon.
