A couple of years ago, Curren$y teamed up with Harry Fraud for the well-received Back At Burnie’s, a sequel to the 2011 classic Weekend At Bernie’s that saw 10 tracks and additional appearances from Young Dolph, Fendi P, Juicy J, Rick Ross, MadeinTYO, and more. Presumably resting in his vault, the New Orleans veteran has apparently decided to liberate a visual for the album standout “Money Is A Drug,” a laid-back effort that sees Curren$y rapping about women, cars, and — of course — his love for the Federal Reserve note:
“Jet Life or your life don’t matter, money talk drown out all the hater chit-chatter, money machine sound like laughter, hearin’ account make me happy, watch the sunset in my blue Caddy, she rolled another fatty, she bustin’ off them daiquiris, she thinkin’ ‘bout smashin’, I’m thinkin’ ‘bout that, then dashin’ out, slide to my car while she passin’ out…”
Directed by Chino Chase, the accompanying clip matches the hazy nature of the track, beginning with an iced out Curren$y in a neon-lit room with women, weed, bottles, and cash. Elsewhere, he shows off his iconic car collection, classic kicks, and more — basically, everything that his financial success has afforded him throughout his career.
As you’re probably aware, the world has seen a plethora of projects from Curren$y since the release of Back At Burnie’s, including The Tonite Show with Curren$y with DJ Fresh, Spring Clean with Fuse, his label compilation Welcome to Jet Life Recordings, The OutRunners, The Director’s Cut, and Bonus Footage — the last three of which were also created alongside Fraud. This year alone, he’s already blessed the masses with two projects — his tenth studio LP Collection Agency and the NFT-only Financial District, which included an exclusive virtual smoke session.
