Drake kicked off the year with a few accomplishments — including his new title as the first artist to reach 50 billion streams on Spotify — so he lent his support to a fellow Toronto native, helping him to get a positive start to his year as well. The “One Dance” emcee — who is working on his Certified Lover Boy project — gave the young man who goes by BucksInDaCuts enough money to pay off his debt and rack up a few dollars as well.
BucksInDaCut’s New Year’s resolution was to be more financially responsible and start saving his money. With the end of the month soon approaching, he told fans that he’s already stacked up $800 dollars, raising his total savings to $1300. 6ixBuzz TV reposted the video of him counting his money, asking followers to “tag someone that needs to start stacking up like @bucks.b.from.da.east.”
As luck would have it, Drake got wind of the post and decided he would help BucksInDaCut out a little bit, commenting, “Yo what’s this mans PayPal [?] I’m doubling that for my guy Bucks B.”
BucksInDaCut later confirmed that Drake not only came through on his promise, but blessed him with an extra gift. The OVO rapper even followed him on Instagram.
“Yo fam, listen up,” said Bucks in a video posted on his Instagram account. “I gotta big up Drizzy, the one and only Drake fam. He’s a man of his word fam. He doubled my money and on top of that fam, I told him about my OSAP, and he cleared my debts fam. So I gotta big up this guy one more time. He’s the biggest name in the city fam. Drizzy Drake fam, I’m tryna be be like him one day.”
“@champagnepapi Is The Realest !” he added in his caption. “I Can’t Thank Him Enough…. A Real Role Model!”
