Drake makes history once again. Within the first 18 days of 2021, the “Laugh Now Cry Later” rapper has become the first artist to ever garner at least 50 billion total streams on Spotify.

On Sunday (Jan. 17), Twitter account Chart Data tweeted about Drizzy’s latest accomplishment. The 50 billion streams include every song that the OVO Sound founder is credited on. Later on in the day, Drake himself hit up his Instagram Story to react to the news. In his post, the Toronto rapper included a screenshot of a graphic featuring him sipping on a drink with the headline under him.

Drake’s latest achievement comes shortly after Spotify dubbed the Scorpion rapper as the most-streamed artist of 2020. The 34-year-old emcee only dropped his surprise project Dark Lane Demo Tapes as well as other major singles like “Toosie Slide” and “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk.

However, Drake did appear on huge singles for other artists like Future (“Life is Good”), DJ Khaled (“Popstar” and “Greece”), Lil Yachty (“Oprah’s Bank Account”), 21 Savage (“Mr. Right Now”), Bryson Tiller (“Outta Time”), Yung Bleu (“You’re Mines Soon”), Headie One (“Only You Freestyle”) and Popcaan (“Twist and Turn”). These features plus his extensive catalog helped him reach 50 billion streams on the music streaming service.

2021 has just begun and it’s already turning out to be a banner year for Aubrey Graham. Along with his achievements on Spotify, Drake is planning to drop his next album Certified Lover Boy sometime this month. Previously, fans believed his sixth studio album was going to drop on Jan. 1 after Odell Beckham Jr. announced the album’s alleged release date in a video clip posted to social media.

Yet, the release date has passed and fans are still eager for the album. Drake still has two more weeks left in the month. It’s possible that he could surprise us with the album at any time from now until Jan. 31.
