If you thought that the Griselda collective couldn’t elevate any further than they already have, you’re dead wrong. Not only have they applied constant pressure with their music releases over recent years, they have now added another skill set to their resume — film making. With the announcement of their debut film Conflicted, it’s evident they are on another creative level. With the motion picture releasing January 15th, Griselda has decided to bring forth the movie’s soundtrack to the forefront today. Who would have ever thought the Buffalo kids would step into the film industry and shake shit the way they are?
Conflicted features Benny the Butcher and Westside Gunn in a story set in their native land, Buffalo. Benny plays Hunter, an ex-con trying to go straight after returning home from prison. As the title suggests, things get a little complicated. The movie stars Benny and Westside, and is directed by their fellow Buffalonian AK Reed, but they did reach outside of their circle to fill out the cast. R&B singer J Holiday, MMA fighter Deuce King, and actor Michael Rappaport all feature in Griselda’s first jab at filmmaking.
The movie arrives with an accompanying original motion picture soundtrack featuring work from Westside Gunn, Dave East, Lloyd Banks, Armani Caesar, Boldy James, Flee Lord, ElCamino, Eto, Ransom, Daringer, the late DJ Shay, Camouflage Monk, Cee Gee, IceRoxx, Fuse, 808 Mafia and more. Benny The Butcher’s latest release “3:30 in Houston” serves as the project’s lead single, and fans can hear the rapper address the November 2020 shooting incident he was a victim of.
Taking to Twitter, Benny The Butcher is highly excited for the movie’s release and lets it be known he takes much pride into the hard work he put into his acting for it. Tap into the Conflicted soundtrack below and make sure you tune in to the movie next weekend on streaming services.
