Last month, French Montana dropped off the fifth installment of his popular Coke Boys series, which boasts 19 tracks and additional features from Jim Jones, Lil Durk, Pop Smoke, Jack Harlow, Benny The Butcher, Max B, A$AP Rocky, Chinx, and more. This week, he liberates a new visual from CB5 for “So Real,” which features YoungBoy Never Broke Again and is produced by Felipe S and Vadebeatz. The hard-hitting track sees the two rappers delivering subject matter for the streets:
“Amy Winehouse fade to black, made millies off the trap, knock your head of the map, when we fire, price of fame ain’t cheaper than your thoughts, it put demons in they hearts, you can’t even turn to people/
’Cause hurt people hurt people, I be swervin’ off the drink, I be movin’ off the like I’m Flint, I be dryin’ off the ink, when we hop out niggas faint…/”
Created by Tilla Vision, Maxx Renn, and Virtual Girl, the animated clip shows French Montana and YoungBoy Never Broke Again riding around in luxury whips in a virtual city. Matching the song’s lyrics, both artists can also be seen with weapons on hand — one scene shows YoungBoy in a gunfight, eventually dispatching his enemies almost effortlessly.
“So Real” follows previously released videos from Montana’s latest body of work for “Double G,” “Wave Blues,” “Paradise,” “FMTU,” and “You Deserve An Oscar.” In addition to the initial CB5 release, French Montana dropped a deluxe version that added on five additional tracks for fans to enjoy. This year also saw some loose cuts from the New York hip hop veteran, including “Cold” with Tory Lanez and “That’s A Fact,” the latter of which also saw a remix alongside Brooklyn drill star Fivio Foreign.
