Nicki Minaj is not attending tonight’s (Sept. 13) Met Gala because they require all attendees to be vaccinated.

On Monday (Sept. 13), the “Itty Bitty Piggy” emcee responded to a fan who was heartbroken about her not making a public appearance since 2020 and she confirmed reports that she would not be attending the 2021 Met Gala. “I have an infant with no nannies during COVID,” Nicki tweeted. “Who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself.”

She then explained her decision to skip the event in more detail, adding that she has not received the COVID-19 vaccine.

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met,” she wrote. “If I get vaccinated, it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”

The Queen rapper then tweeted about an experience that her cousin’s friend allegedly had after getting vaccinated. “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent,” she wrote. “His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So, just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

Nicki also implied that she would be going on another hiatus to spend more time with her son Papa Bear.

“I was about to give yall way more than scraps but [you know what],” she tweeted a fan. “I’ll talk to y’all next year. Ima leave the stu & go in the backyard & get in the pool with [Papa Bear]. I can’t get this time back with my pickney. God bless my real babies. Merry Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Halloween.”
