The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced on Monday (Mar. 16) that the annual Met Gala has been postponed indefinitely due to growing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, according to Vogue. Fashion’s biggest night out was originally scheduled to take place on May 4.

After two employees showed symptoms of the virus last week, the Met announced that it was closing “until further notice.” According to Vogue, an email was sent to all Met staff announcing that the museum “will remain closed through Saturday, April 4” to comply with the CDC’s orders that there should not be any events with 50 people or more. All events through May 15 will be rescheduled or cancelled.

The Met Gala is joining a list of other events that have been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic.

Festival organizers of Coachella recently released a statement saying that their annual festival has been postponed until October.

“Coachella will now take place on October 9, 10 and 11 and October 16, 17 and 18, 2020. Stagecoach will take place on October 23, 24 and 25, 2020,” said the statement. “All purchases for the April dates will be honored for the rescheduled October dates. Purchasers will be notified by Friday, March 13 on how to obtain a refund if they are unable to attend. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the desert this fall.”

The scheduled performers are still expected to appear at the October festival. This year’s Coachella headliners include Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine. DaBaby, Summer Walker, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Ari Lennox and more are also set to perform.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards have also been postponed. The award show was originally scheduled to air Sunday, Mar. 29 on FOX.

“The safety of our guests, employees, artists and partners is our main priority. iHeartMedia and FOX will plan to reschedule at the appropriate time and will provide more information and relevant updates as they become available. Refunds are being issued to ticketed guests,” iHeartRadio said in a statement.
