Lizzo is reveling in her latest accomplishment: a top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
On Monday (Aug. 23), the singer took to Instagram to react to the news that “Rumors” featuring Cardi B debuted as the No. 4 song on the music chart. “I calmed down & I’m locked in… AND MY RECORDS LIVE IN THE TOP 10!!!! @IAMCARDIB !!!!!!!!” she started, referring to Cardi’s lyrics on the single. “WE MUTHAFUCKIN DID IT!!!! THANK YOU FOR STREAMING #RUMORS — I GOT THE #4 SONG IN THE COUNTRY— IM FINNA EAT SOMETHING DELICIOUS. I LOVE YALL!!!!”
In a second post, the singer recorded herself as she danced to Cardi’s verse and stopped at the mention of a Top 10 record to point to a screenshot of the music list.
“DONT MIND ME…,” she penned the caption. “JUST BEIN EXTRA TODAY.”
Lizzo’s happy mood comes after days of addressing the “unfair” body shaming and negative feedback she’s received throughout her career and most recently, in the days following the release of “Rumors.” Since then, the likes of Cardi B, her husband Offset and T.I. have made statements in support of the “Truth Hurts” singer.
“Let these beautiful Black women be great,” the Migos star told TMZ. “Stop judging and bringing out negative energy. We work hard to be entertainers for the world. Let us be.”
“Listen, sweetheart, you are beautiful, you are talented, you are good enough for all the great things the world has to offer, don’t wait on nobody out there in the public to validate that,” T.I. said in a video he posted on Instagram.
“Their perception of you has more to do with them than it does with you. All these people who out here who have negative things to say it’s because they feel negatively about themselves.”
Aside from the Billboard Hot 100 debut of “Rumors,” the single has reportedly sold over 100,000 units in the United States, becoming the fastest selling track last week.
