Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group label has signed a deal with Interscope Records, Billboard and other outlets reported on Thursday (June 3). The company’s Interscope Geffen A&M will now work to further develop and support Gotti’s growing CMG roster.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for John Janick, Steve Berman, Nicole Wyskoarko and the entire Interscope team and their track record of success,” Gotti announced in a statement. “We share the same vision about winning – we want to break barriers, disrupt the industry and develop the next generation of superstars. I’m thrilled to partner with them as I continue focusing on CMG’s expansion.”
The rap mainstay’s list of CMG artists has grown substantially over the years and is now home to the likes of Moneybagg Yo, 42 Dugg and EST GEE. Earlier this year, Moneybagg scored his first No. 1 album with A Gangsta’s Pain and Dugg also recently enjoyed a successful No. 8 debut on the Billboard 200 with his latest mixtape, Free Dem Boyz.
“With 25 years under his belt as a successful artist, label head, manager and entrepreneur, Yo Gotti has built an impressive legacy in hip hop and remains one of the most exciting voices in music,” IGA chairman John Janick said in the statement. “We look forward to working closely with Gotti’s team to continue to build upon CMG’s incredible run in our business.”
Gotti founded Collective Music Group in 2012, initially working to develop the careers of Blac Youngsta and BlocBoy JB. Gotti serves as the record label’s CEO and his brother, Brandon Mims, is the company’s president. Gotti released his sixth studio album, I Am, through the label and dropped a collective project with the group’s roster, Chapter One, in 2014.
“Gotti’s decades-long ability to consistently identify the next important wave of talent is very rare in our business,” IGA co-head of A&R Nicole Wyskoarko added. “We’re excited about all of the new artists he and his team are currently developing and can’t wait to get started.”
Gotti announced the partnership on Instagram shortly before releasing his new collaboration with DaBaby, “Drop.” “Teams Win Championships, Unity Creates Value, Determination turn into POWER!” he wrote. “New Deal, New Money, New Opportunities!”
