On Friday (May 28), DMX’s posthumous album will be released for fans to hear. The project titled Exodus pays homage to his youngest son, an idea the emcee reportedly had before his passing.

During a recent interview with TMZ, Ruff Ryders CEO Joaquin Dean revealed that X shared his desire to name the forthcoming project after his four-year-old son, Exodus, who he was reportedly growing closer to as he and longtime friend Swizz Beatz worked on putting the album together. In the wake of his tragic death, the mega producer decided to honor DMX’s wish.

Exodus also pays homage to X’s son on two tracks off the album: “Exodus Skit” and “Letter to my Son (Call Your Father).”

DMX’s relationship with his son Exodus has been displayed on social media via posts from fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, who happens to be the four-year-old’s mother. Following X’s tragic death, she’s posted a few videos that show the special bond the two shared.

Days ago, she told followers that her son jumped in excitement after hearing and seeing his father on his “Uncensored” interview.

“I’m in my room watching the second half of my fiancé last interview when @exodus_simmons1 heard his daddy voice on my tv and runs in our room screaming with joy, ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy,’” she penned alongside a video of her happy son. “He loved his daddy so much…This breaks my heart so damn bad! God I need the strength…Our son misses him so much!”

Lindstrom also revealed that she and Exodus visited X’s grave “because he wanted to give his first tooth to his daddy.”

X’s forthcoming album — which features his eight-year-old daughter Sonovah Hillman Jr., Griselda, JAY-Z, Nas and more — is a “masterpiece,” according to Swizz. To celebrate its release, bikers will pay tribute to the late emcee with planned “ryde outs,” Dean told TMZ.
